Building Production Apps with Expo and React Native
One codebase for iOS and Android
Most products do not need two fully native teams. With React Native and Expo you ship a production app to the App Store and Google Play from one TypeScript codebase, which usually costs less and stays easier to maintain than parallel Swift and Kotlin projects.
At RedQA we use Expo and EAS Build for the release pipeline: development builds, TestFlight, Play internal testing, and over-the-air updates when the change does not need a full store review. Native modules stay available when a feature genuinely needs them.
What a production Expo app actually includes
- Typed navigation and state your team can extend without guessing
- Auth, offline-aware flows and push notifications where the product needs them
- EAS Build and Submit so releases are repeatable
- Automated tests and CI on the critical paths, not a demo-only UI
- Store assets and review support so launch is not an afterthought
What it typically costs
Standalone React Native / Expo projects for iOS and Android typically start from about £14,000 (roughly $18,200 USD), depending on complexity. Billing, media pipelines, roles and permissions, and store requirements can take the total higher. We firm the quote after a short discovery. See project pricing or our mobile app development service.
Build and QA together
We came from quality engineering, so tests and CI are part of delivery, not a separate phase bolted on at the end. If you also need web coverage, we specialise in Playwright, Cypress and Selenium automation.
